Purpose

²Ø¾«¸ó supports the use of external speakers and events planned by University recognized student organizations as long as they are planned for and approved in advance.

Scope

This policy applies to student organizations who wish to invite speakers to campus.

Policy

In the spirit of consistency with ²Ø¾«¸ó’s mission and values, the university reserves the right to review and approve any ²Ø¾«¸ó-sponsored or affiliated event featuring an outside speaker. This applies to events organized by recognized student organization and held on campus or at an outside location. Speakers who are active political figures or candidates will be handled through the University Political Nonpartisanship Policy.

Student organizations may invite external speakers to campus and speakers must adhere to campus policies and refrain from harassing or hate speech. Student groups are required to submit the Speaker Request Form on Mane Connection for any speaker being invited to campus for approval. The form should be submitted a minimum of 4 weeks in advance and will be reviewed by the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs.

Note: This policy does not apply to speakers invited to address students in a class on an academic topic.
