Earning a Minor in Writing and Professional Communication

A  at ؾ requires 18 credit hours. This interdisciplinary minor combines courses from English literature, creative writing, technical writing, business writing, grant writing, and journalism to create a program of study allowing you to practice writing in a wide variety of forms. Two courses are required: Introduction to Writing and Rhetoric, and Introduction to Technical and Professional Writing. You will select the remaining five courses from a range of offerings in English, Communication, and Non-Profit Administration.

Since written communication is one of the most desirable skills employers are looking for, this minor is an excellent choice to take in combination with any major across the University. This minor allows you to thoroughly enhance your writing skills for a wide variety of purposes and audiences, which is excellent practice for the job market. If you want to bolster the communication skills you’ll need to succeed at your career plans, this is a great minor in which to develop them.
